Shehu Sani Reacts As EFCC Hands Over 753 Abuja Duplexes Recovered From Emefiele To Housing Ministry

Human rights activist and former Senator, Shehu Sani, has commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for transparently handing over a 753-duplex housing estate, linked to former Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele, to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

The anti-graft agency formally transferred the forfeited property, located in Abuja’s Lokogoma district, to the ministry’s headquarters in Mabushi on Tuesday.

In a tweet, Senator Sani praised EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede for his transparency, emphasizing that in the past, such a large number of housing units “would have been dubiously auctioned to proxies.”

He said, “The Ola Olukoyede handover of the 753 housing units seized from the ex CBN Boss to the Federal Housing Authority is one of the most unprecedented transparent process that has happened in Nigeria’s anti corruption history. In the past, it would just have been dubiously auctioned to proxies.”
