States To Experience Thunderstorm, Rainfall For Three Days

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) forecasts thunderstorms and rainfall across Nigeria from Sunday, June 9, to Tuesday, June 11, 2025. This outlook, released Saturday, anticipates wet weather in the North, North-Central, and Southern states.

On Sunday, conditions will begin cloudy, shifting to thunderstorms and rain in the afternoon/evening over parts of Taraba, Adamawa, Katsina, Kano, Zamfara, Kaduna, Jigawa, Borno, Gombe, and Bauchi.

The North-Central region, including FCT, Niger, Nasarawa, Kwara, Kogi, Benue, and Plateau, will see similar patterns. Southern states like Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Edo, Abia, Imo, Enugu, Anambra, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers, Delta, and Bayelsa can expect rain showers later in the day.

Monday will bring morning thunderstorms to Sokoto, Zamfara, and Bauchi, with widespread activity in the North-Central (FCT, Niger, Kogi, Nasarawa, Plateau, Benue). Early morning rains are forecast for Cross River, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom in the South, potentially continuing later.

By Tuesday, isolated thunderstorms and moderate rain are expected in parts of Zamfara and Kaduna in the morning.

NiMet advises the public to take safety measures: disconnect electrical appliances, stay away from tall trees, avoid driving during heavy downpours, and secure loose outdoor items. Airline operators should consult updated weather reports for planning.
