Since assuming Nigeria’s presidency in 2023, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has undertaken numerous international trips to over 20 countries, reportedly to strengthen diplomatic relations, attract investment, and address regional issues.
These trips have frequently drawn criticism from the opposition and other Nigerians who question the associated costs amidst the country’s economic struggles.

For instance, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has twice criticized Tinubu’s recent visit to Saint Lucia, citing Nigeria’s pressing domestic challenges.

- France: Visited in June 2023 for the New Global Financing Pact Summit and again in January 2024 for a private visit.
- United Kingdom: Held a meeting with King Charles III in September 2024 and made another visit in April 2025.
- Guinea-Bissau: Made two official visits in 2023 – in July for the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government session, and in November for the country’s 50th independence anniversary.
- Kenya: Traveled to Nairobi in July 2023 for the 5th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of the African Union (AU).
- Benin Republic: Visited Cotonou in August 2023 as a special guest for the country’s 63rd Independence Anniversary.
- Saudi Arabia: Made two notable visits – in November 2023 for the Saudi-Africa Summit and in April 2024 for the World Economic Summit.
