Akwa Ibom State Corps Members Allowance Increased

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has approved an increase in the monthly state allowance for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state, raising it from ₦5,000 to ₦20,000.

He announced the decision on Friday during the State Delivery Meeting held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Uyo.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the new allowance will take effect from August 1st.

The governor explained that the increase is intended to complement the Federal Government’s ₦77,000 monthly stipend, helping corps members better cover their basic expenses.

“More than 10, 000 corps members are posted to Akwa Ibom annually. We must continue to encourage and support them,” Eno said.

It is worth noting that just last week, the governor approved the reconstruction of the NYSC Orientation Camp in Ikot Itie Idung, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the welfare of corps members in the state.
