Hon. Babagana Yakubu Mohammed, a Senior Special Assistant to Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and subsequently joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Babagana, who is from Gaidam local government area of Yobe State, formally announced his resignation in a letter sent to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Baba Malam Wali, which was obtained by LEADERSHIP in Damaturu on Sunday.

In his letter, Babagana expressed profound frustration, citing the alleged neglect of dedicated party loyalists, particularly those who contributed significantly at the grassroots level to ensure the APC’s victory.

He stated, “Accept this as formal resignation as Senior Special Assistant to Governor Buni effective immediately. I have come to realise that my efforts and contributions to the party at the grassroots level have been grossly overlooked. Despite my unwavering loyalty and dedication, I have been deliberately sidelined by the party leadership at both the local government and state levels.”

He apologized for the abrupt timing of his announcement, attributing it to “unforeseen circumstances,” and described his resignation as a difficult but essential decision due to the party’s “consistent neglect.”

Furthermore, Yakubu criticized the APC-led administration in the state, accusing it of lacking the vision to address the fundamental needs of the populace.

He added, “I want to tell you that, as someone who believes in the ideals of our party, it pains me to see our government’s inability to fulfil its promises, leading to widespread disillusionment and a loss of trust among the electorate.”

He concluded by thanking Governor Buni for the opportunities to serve in his government and wished him well in steering the state.
