List Of States To Experience 3-Day Rain, Thunderstorms From Monday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted a prevalence of rainy and thundery weather conditions across Nigeria from Monday through Wednesday.

Monday’s Outlook

NiMet’s Sunday weather outlook anticipates cloudy patches and potential morning thunderstorms in parts of Taraba and Adamawa. Later in the day, thunderstorms with rain are expected over portions of Zamfara, Adamawa, Kebbi, Taraba, and Kaduna states. In the North-Central region, morning skies will be sunny with some clouds, leading to isolated thunderstorms and rain in the afternoon/evening over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Kogi, Niger, Benue, Plateau, and Nasarawa State. Southern Nigeria can expect a cloudy morning with rain over coastal areas of Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers, Delta, and Bayelsa. Afternoon showers are forecast for parts of Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti, Osun, Ogun, Imo, Abia, Edo, Ebonyi, Enugu, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers, Delta, and Bayelsa.

Tuesday’s Outlook

For Tuesday, NiMet envisages sunny skies with cloudy patches in the northern region in the morning. Isolated thunderstorms with moderate rains are forecast for parts of Bauchi, Taraba, Kaduna, Kebbi, Katsina, Kano, and Adamawa later in the day. The North-Central region will see partly cloudy mornings, with isolated thunderstorms and rain anticipated later over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Kwara, Benue, Kogi, Nasarawa, Plateau, and Niger. In the southern region, morning rain showers are expected over parts of Cross River, Bayelsa, Delta, and Akwa Ibom. Afternoon/evening isolated rains are forecast for parts of Ekiti, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, Anambra, Oyo, Ondo, Delta, Edo, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Lagos State.

Wednesday’s Outlook

On Wednesday, NiMet anticipates morning thunderstorms with rain over parts of Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Kano, and Gombe states. Later in the day, thunderstorms with rain are expected over parts of Sokoto, Kebbi, Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Taraba, Adamawa, and Zamfara. The North-Central region is projected to have cloudy mornings, with isolated thunderstorms and rain anticipated across the entire region later in the day. Southern Nigeria will also experience cloudy skies in the morning, followed by isolated rain showers over the entire region later on.

Safety Advisory

NiMet advises the public to take precautions due to potential strong winds preceding thunderstorms and to secure loose objects. Driving in heavy rain should be avoided, and electrical appliances should be unplugged. Residents are also advised to stay away from tall trees to prevent injuries from falling branches.
