Adamu Maina Waziri, a former Minister of Police Affairs and two-time gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yobe State, has formally withdrawn from the party and handed in his membership card.

He made the announcement at Dogotebo Ward in Potiskum Local Government Area, describing the decision to leave the PDP after years of dedication and service as a tough one.

“I have decided to resign my membership because of the provision in the party’s constitution, which requires me to come to my ward — Dogotebo in Potiskum, located in a primary school that is older than me — to submit my resignation letter and formalise the action I took about a week ago,” he said.

She made her resignation known in Kukar Gadu community, located in Fika Local Government Area, and revealed her decision to join the newly established African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition.

“I have come to my home and village to inform them that I have ceased to be a member of the People’s Democratic Party. I have tendered my letter of resignation and handed over my membership card to the party,” she said.

“I urge them to join the new train of the coalition, called Sabuwar Tafiya (new journey) in Hausa, to elect leaders who will bring better governance to our people.”

She urged her supporters and other patriotic Nigerians to throw their support behind the coalition as the 2027 general elections approach.
