What Will Happen If I Run In 2027 With Wike’s Opposition – Kingibe

Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and serving as Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Women Affairs, expressed confidence in her re-election should she decide to contest for her seat again in 2027.

Speaking on Channels Television’s ‘Political Paradigm’ on Tuesday, the Labour Party senator stated that despite the opposition from FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, Abuja residents would ensure her re-election.

This declaration comes after Wike had, in July 2024, publicly asserted that the 71-year-old Kingibe would not return to the Senate in 2027.

Kingibe, however, maintained on Tuesday that if she runs in the next election, she anticipates a landslide victory.

The female lawmaker said, “I know that I will win in a landslide victory, bigger than the last one. The last one, bear in mind, that I went to the Senate with one of the highest, if not the highest votes of any legislator.

“And it was not just about (LP Peter) Obi. Yes, he brought some votes, but I also brought some votes to him that would not normally go to him.”
