Chief Olabode George, former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has stated that the actions of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, are undermining the PDP’s internal order and exacerbating tensions within the opposition party.
In a Friday interview on Arise Television, George accused Wike of operating outside the party’s established framework and collaborating with interests in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He characterized Wike as acting “without restraint,” asserting that his approach has fueled instability within the PDP.

“He seems like a loose cannon within the party, and there are signs he is cooperating with the APC to weaken us,” George remarked, emphasizing that such behavior contradicts the collective responsibility expected of party leaders.
George explained that the PDP’s internal governance is dictated by its constitution, which vests supreme authority in the National Executive Committee (NEC), subordinate only to the national convention.
All party committees, including reconciliation efforts led by figures like former Senate President Bukola Saraki, are mandated to report to the NEC.
He expressed concern over the NEC’s extended period without meeting, attributing this to internal procedural issues, specifically disputes related to the party secretary’s gubernatorial ambition without prior resignation.
“That vacuum contributed significantly to the disorder we are witnessing,” George stated, though he confirmed that these issues have now been resolved and an NEC meeting is scheduled for July 23.
The PDP chieftain noted that while Board of Trustees members like Wike cannot be summarily removed, the party possesses mechanisms to address infractions.
He affirmed that Wike’s conduct would be a topic of discussion at the upcoming NEC meeting.
George expressed hope that this meeting will enable the party to reassert its internal discipline and recommit to its core principles in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
