Four Senators elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have officially switched to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Their defection letters were read aloud in the Senate chamber by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, on Wednesday.

The Senators cited “irreconcilable differences” within the opposition PDP as their reason for cross-carpeting. Akpabio acknowledged the letters and instructed the Clerk of the Senate to officially document their defection.
The Senators who formally decamped on Wednesday are:
- Senator Francis Fadahunsi (Osun East)
- Senator Oluwole Olubiyi (Osun Central)
- Senator Aniekan Bassey (Akwa Ibom North East)
- Senator Samson Ekong (Akwa Ibom South)
