President Tinubu clarified that Professor Yusuf’s nomination is intended to replace Professor Fatima Alkali, who was initially nominated on June 2, 2025, but did not appear before the Senate for screening and confirmation.

In his letter, President Tinubu expressed his hope for an “expeditious” consideration and confirmation of Professor Yusuf’s nomination.

Senate President Akpabio has since referred the nomination to the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters for further legislative action.

The committee is expected to review the nomination and present its recommendations to the Senate in due course.
