President Bola Tinubu has ordered the transfer of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGoF) from the Ministry of Works to the Presidency.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, announced the move after Thursday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the directive aims to streamline geospatial data management and provide more direct oversight of national mapping and land administration.
Although the minister did not give a detailed reason for the transfer, the move is consistent with the administration’s reform agenda and its increasing use of geospatial intelligence for national planning, infrastructure development, and security mapping.
The OSGoF serves as the country’s official mapping agency, responsible for providing geospatial data and services.
