ADC Reacts To Reports Of INEC Not Recognising Party Leadership

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has refuted a report that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is refusing to recognize the party’s new leadership, headed by Senator David Mark.

In a statement on X, the party’s interim spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, labeled the circulating report “entirely false” and urged the public to disregard it.

“The attention of ADC has been drawn to a story circulating that the @inecnigeria has refused to recognise the new leadership of our party under the Distinguished Senator David Mark. This story is entirely false and should be ignored,” he wrote.

He confirmed that the ADC held its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting last week under INEC’s supervision and formally notified the commission of the leadership change.

However, Abdullahi did express concern about the delay in updating the INEC portal to reflect the transition. “Nigerians deserve to know: what’s the delay? What exactly is INEC waiting for?” he asked.
