The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has resumed the sale of petrol (Premium Motor Spirit) after a one-week suspension, but with a revised ex-depot price of N850 per litre, an increase from the previous N820.
This N30 increase, which took effect on Thursday, has raised concerns about a potential nationwide hike in petrol pump prices.
The new price was observed as loading activities resumed at the refinery in the Lekki Free Trade Zone, Lagos.
The week-long pause in sales was initiated by an internal memo from the refinery that instructed marketers to halt all payments for petrol loading.
Although the refinery has not issued a public statement on the price adjustment, industry insiders believe the increase is a response to fluctuations in global crude oil prices.
