On Friday, a 100-level Mass Communication student of Taraba State University (TSU), Jalingo, Comfort Jimtop, was found dead in her boyfriend’s apartment under circumstances that have sparked “shock and concern” within the university community.
According to reports, “empty bottles of alcohol were said to have been found beside the bed where her body lay.”
Following the discovery, the boyfriend, identified in new reports as Emmanuel Kefas, and other tenants reportedly “abandoned the house.”
The investigation into Jimtop’s death has taken a dramatic turn, as a search for her boyfriend, the prime suspect, led to the discovery of his own “lifeless body” in the Tudiri community.
The spokesperson for the Taraba State Police Command, James Lashen, confirmed the discovery of a body with a Tecno Android phone next to it.
Upon checking the phone, investigators found a photograph of the deceased with the late Comfort Jimtop, suggesting they were in a romantic relationship.
Lashen stated, “When our men arrived at the residence, nobody was found. The boyfriend and other tenants had abandoned the house.”
He added that the police are still working to determine whether Kefas’s death was the result of a suicide, homicide, or an accident.
The police are continuing their investigation into both deaths, as the tragic incident has stirred “anxiety” and left many unanswered questions.
