The recipients were Chief Edward Kobani, Chief Albert Badey, Chief Samuel Orage, and Chief Theophilus Orage.
The late leaders, who are remembered as part of the vanguard that resisted oppression in the Niger Delta, were executed alongside activist Ken Saro-Wiwa in 1995 by the military regime of General Sani Abacha.
Their deaths drew global outrage and placed Nigeria under international sanctions.
