The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the nominees for the 2025 CAF Awards – Men’s Categories on Thursday, celebrating the continent’s top football performers.
The nominations considered performances between January 6 and October 15, 2025.
The CAF Player of the Year shortlist includes Nigeria’s Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen as a top contender.
He is up against major stars like Egypt and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, and Moroccan and Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi.
Other nominees for the main award are:
- Cameroon’s Frank Anguissa
- Congo’s Fiston Mayele
- Gabon’s Denis Bouanga
- Guinea’s Serhou Guirassy
- Morocco’s Oussama Lamlioui
- Senegal’s duo Iliman Ndiaye and Pape Matar Sarr
Nigeria’s goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, was also nominated in the Goalkeeper of the Year category.
He will compete against:
- Morocco’s Yassine Bonou
- South Africa’s Ronwen Williams
- Cameroon’s Andre Onana
- Senegal’s Edouard Mendy
CAF stated that a panel of experts, including CAF Technical & Development Committee members, coaches, CAF Legends, and media representatives, selected 10 nominees for each category based on their “immense” impact on “the African and global game.”
Other categories to be awarded include Interclub Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Young Player of the Year, National Team of the Year, and Club of the Year.
