Tinubu Seeks Senate Confirmation Of Bernard Doro As Minister

President Bola Tinubu has formally requested that the Senate screen and confirm Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau State as the new Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.

The President’s request was conveyed in a letter read on Wednesday by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during the plenary session. Akpabio then referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for prompt legislative action, instructing it to report back as quickly as possible.

Dr. Doro’s nomination was necessitated by the elevation of Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, the former Minister, who became the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in July.

Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, had previously confirmed the nomination on Tuesday, stating that the selection is part of the administration’s efforts to fill vacant ministerial slots.

Onanuga’s statement noted that Dr. Doro, born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa LGA of Plateau State, possesses over two decades of experience across clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, and strategic leadership in both Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

Onanuga also highlighted Doro’s extensive qualifications, including: “He has degrees in Pharmacy and Law, an MBA focusing on IT-driven business strategy, and a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice.”
