Fani-Kayode Reacts To Tinubu’s Ambassadorial Nomination

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for naming him among the 32 new ambassador-designates.

In a statement posted on his X handle on Sunday, Fani-Kayode described the nomination as a significant honour.

He wrote: “I thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (@officialABAT) for nominating me to be an Ambassador of our great country Nigeria. This is indeed a great honour for which I give God the glory. Thanks be to God.”

The President had forwarded a list of 32 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for confirmation, days after sending an initial batch of three nominees.”

The nominees include Fani-Kayode, former INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu; former presidential aide, Reno Omokri; and former Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, among others.

The Presidency, in a statement issued by the presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, on Saturday, stated that the nominees are being considered for both career and non-career ambassadorial positions.

It added that “the list also includes four women among the career ambassadors and six women among the non-career ambassadors.

The Presidency, however, noted that the nominations remain subject to Senate screening and confirmation before any diplomatic assignments are announced.
