Plateau Governor Set To Dump PDP For APC

Plateau State Governor Caleb Muftwang is preparing to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

This pending move was confirmed on Monday in Abuja by the governor’s Political Adviser, Mr Istifanus Nwansat, during an interview with newsmen.

Nwansat explained that the decision was driven by political survival, describing the APC as the “safest decision for us today, and with the least risk factor” due to the ongoing “chaos in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”

He noted that the internal crisis in the PDP has made the party an “unrealistic podium for political actors to contest elections.”

The defection, according to Nwansat, is also intended to politically align the governor with President Bola Tinubu and his administration’s trajectory on the Plateau.

He emphasized the necessity for the state’s leadership to support the federal government:“That is why the governor is moving into the APC. And again, the governor believes that it is good and reasonable enough as a leader for him to move his people to align with the President.”

The adviser concluded by acknowledging the efforts of the President, stating:“This is because by our own assessment as a state, even though members of the PDP, we appreciate and recognise the efforts of Mr. President in putting things right.”
