President Bola Tinubu has offered condolences following the death of the Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who passed away on Thursday after collapsing in his office. President Tinubu also expressed sympathy for the state’s government and people.
The President’s message, released on Monday via a statement from his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, extended “heartfelt condolences” to Governor Douye Diri, the Deputy Governor’s wife Barrister Beatrice Ewhrudjakpo, his children, and all his colleagues and friends.
President Tinubu acknowledged Ewhrudjakpo’s “selflessness and patriotism,” noting his history of public service in the state, first as Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, and later as a Senator representing the Bayelsa West Senatorial District.

The President encouraged the state to “preserve the legacy of the public servant” who left his mark on Bayelsa State’s infrastructure and contributed to lawmaking and policy shaping at the National Assembly.
President Tinubu concluded by praying “for the soul of the departed and God’s comfort for the grieving family and the state.”
Ewhrudjakpo’s death occurred on Thursday after he collapsed at the Government House in Yenagoa.
His passing was officially announced later that evening by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong.
The PDP, led by Tanimu Turaki, said it received the news “with deep shock” and praised Ewhrudjakpo as “a trusted, faithful party man.”
The statement conveyed the grief of the party’s leadership, stating:“The National Working Committee, led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, and indeed the entire membership of our great party, especially our faithful members in Bayelsa State, are in profound grief.”
