PDP Chieftain Abdallah Wali Resigns From Party After 25 Years

After more than 25 years with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), former Senator and diplomat Abdallah Wali has officially resigned from the party.

In a formal letter dated December 31, 2025, addressed to the PDP chairman of Sanyinna ward in the Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State, Wali declared that his departure was final.

“I am resigning from my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party, including all organs of the PDP in which I am a member. This resignation takes immediate effect,” the letter read.

Wali acknowledged the various platforms provided to him by the party to serve Nigeria and extended his appreciation to his loyalists who have supported him “for well over a quarter of a century.”

The resignation notice was also sent to the PDP chairmen at both the local government and state levels in Sokoto.

Currently, Wali has not indicated his future political intentions. His exit mirrors the recent departure of former Senator Gilbert Nnaji, who left the party on December 26 after 27 years, citing challenges in aligning the party’s direction with national development.
