Tinubu Stumbles, Falls In Turkey [VIDEO]

President Bola Tinubu experienced a brief slip and fall in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

The incident took place while the Nigerian leader was walking alongside his host, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during an official reception.

Shortly before the stumble, Tinubu had participated in a guard of honour inspection as part of the grand welcome ceremony organized in his honor.

This occurrence mirrors a similar event from June 12, 2024, during Nigeria’s Democracy Day celebrations.

On that occasion, the President tripped while boarding a parade vehicle at Eagle Square in Abuja, though he was quickly assisted by security personnel.

Addressing that previous fall during a commemorative dinner, President Tinubu jokingly referred to the slip as a “swagger,” remarking that “social media was confused about it.”

Explaining the 2024 incident with a touch of humor, he had stated: “Early this morning, I had a swagger and it’s on the social media. They are confused whether I was doing buga or doing babbaringa, but it is a day to celebrate Democracy while doing dobale for the day. I am a traditional Yoruba boy, I did my dobale.”
