Turaki-Led PDP Reacts To Appeal Court Judgment Concerning PDP Convention, Reveals Next Move

The Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has faulted the Appeal Court judgment that nullified the national convention held on November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Reacting to the ruling, the group’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, stated that the party will move to the Supreme Court to challenge the decision regarding the party leadership.

Ememobong noted that “the issues at hand are the issues of the interpretation of the law,” adding that the court held the national legal adviser “was suspended and therefore he could not act because acting in that way would mean acting without authorisation.”

In its Monday ruling, the appellate court upheld a Federal High Court judgment that had restrained the PDP from conducting the convention.

A three-member panel dismissed the PDP’s appeal, which had challenged the Abuja Federal High Court’s jurisdiction to hear the case.

Delivering the lead judgment, Justice Uchechukwu Onyemenam held that the PDP “violated constitutional provisions governing the conduct of a convention” and further determined that the party “failed to serve the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with a valid notice as required by law.”
