The tragic death of Nigerian socialite Elena Jessica following complications from a second Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) has ignited a firestorm of reactions on social media.
Her sister, Nelli, confirmed the passing on TikTok, alleging that the procedure took place at Cynosure Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Hospital in Lagos.
Nelli has publicly accused the facility of professional negligence, stating, “My sister went into Cynosure trusting them with her life. Today, she is gone, and instead of accountability, all we are seeing are statements trying to protect an image.”
She further questioned the hospital’s transparency, asking, “If they were so sure about the information they came out to say, why would they shut off their comment section?”

Disturbing details of Jessica’s final days emerged through WhatsApp messages shared by another sister, who detailed a harrowing ordeal starting from her February 6 surgery.
According to the account, Jessica suffered from severe inflammation and sepsis, with medical tests showing a “very high white blood cell count and low blood levels.”
The family described a chaotic transfer process, claiming they were left stranded at LUTH for five hours in an ambulance because “no arrangements had been made” for an ICU bed.
After moving through multiple hospitals and spending millions on intensive care and corrective surgeries to remove infected fat, the sister lamented, “No one from Cynosure has called or asked if she’s still breathing.”
The family also detailed the extreme financial toll, noting they had to sell personal belongings to cover a N6 million bill for ICU care and surgery.
They expressed fear over being unable to sustain the N4.5 million required for continued treatment, stating that the hospital had threatened to discharge her or refer her to a government facility.
In her grief, Nelli vowed to keep seeking the truth, asserting, “No amount of PR statements will silence the voices of people who lost someone they love.”
Cynosure Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Hospital issued a response on Tuesday, denying that a viral video of a patient screaming was recorded at their facility.
While offering condolences for the “difficult time,” the management stated, “this video was not recorded at our clinic, and we do not know the location or facility where it occurred.”
The incident has sparked a broader conversation online regarding the safety and ethics of the rising trend in cosmetic procedures in Nigeria.
