The Supreme Court has scheduled April 22 to hear an appeal brought by David Mark, the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), regarding a legal battle with Nafiu Bala, a former deputy national chairman of the party.
Justice Lawal Garba, presiding over a five-member panel, established the date once all legal processes were formally adopted by the involved parties.
Under the appeal designated SC/CV/180/2026, the former Senate President is seeking a court order to halt the execution of a Court of Appeal ruling from March 12.

That previous judgment had dismissed Mark’s appeal concerning the party’s internal leadership conflict.
This legal row traces back to a September 4, 2025, decision by Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja, which denied certain injunctions requested in an ex-parte application by Nafiu Bala Gombe.
Subsequently, a three-member panel at the Court of Appeal, chaired by Justice Uchechukwu Onyemenam, sided with Gombe’s legal team—led by Luka Musa Haruna (SAN).
They ruled that Mark’s appeal was incompetent because it focused on issues that were not actually part of the original trial court’s ruling.
