Gunmen Kill Bus Driver, Abduct Passengers In Edo [VIDEOS]

Suspected kidnappers have killed a commercial bus driver and abducted an unknown number of passengers during a violent attack in Edo State.

The bus was reportedly traveling from Lagos toward the eastern part of the country when it was intercepted by heavy gunfire, forcing the vehicle to a stop.

A viral video of the scene captured the aftermath, with an unidentified narrator claiming that the gunmen opened fire on the bus before dragging the occupants into the forest.

According to the narrator, “The kidnappers shot and killed the driver. They also took passengers into the bush. I don’t know the number but it looks more like the entire (sic) were kidnapped.”

The Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent Eno Ikoedem, confirmed the attack, noting that it took place within the Iguobazuwa Police Division area. She stated that a manhunt has already been initiated to track down the suspects.

“The Commissioner of Police has directed adjoining divisions to join in the bush combing efforts to rescue the victims and arrest the perpetrators,” Ikoedem added.

She further noted that security operations are ongoing to bolster safety along the highway and prevent future occurrences.
