2027: APC Adjusts Primary Elections Timetable

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially shifted its House of Representatives primary election by one day.

Despite this adjustment, the ruling party confirmed that all other dates for the 2027 general election primaries remain exactly as previously scheduled.

In a statement released on Thursday by the National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the party clarified that the rest of the timetable—covering the Senate, State Houses of Assembly, governorship, and presidency—is unaffected.

“The All Progressives Congress (APC) announces the postponement of the House of Representatives Primary Election for the 2027 General Elections to Saturday, 16th May, 2026,” the statement read.

According to the updated schedule, the Senate primary election will still take place on Monday, May 18, 2026, followed by the State House of Assembly primary on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

The governorship primary remains set for Thursday, May 21, 2026, while the highly anticipated presidential primary is scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2026.

The APC issued this clarification to dismiss reports claiming the entire primary timetable had been overhauled. The party insisted that the only change made was specifically for the House of Representatives exercise.
