The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially disqualified four prominent loyalists of the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, from participating in the party primaries scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2026.
This development was confirmed in the final list of aspirants released by the party and sent to our correspondent on Friday.
Among those disqualified are two sitting members of the House of Representatives, Awaji-Inombek Abiante and Boma Goodhead.

Notably, Abiante is a key political figure in the state who was instrumental in purchasing the governorship form for Governor Fubara.
The other two aspirants who failed to receive clearance are Air Commodore John Hope (Rtd) and Hon. Anderson Igbiki.
In contrast, 21 other aspirants were cleared to contest the primaries.
This list includes the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, who is seeking the ticket for the Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency.
Amaewhule is aiming to replace his kinsman and current Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kingsley Chinda.

The Rivers State APC Publicity Secretary, Chibike Ikenga, confirmed the status of the aspirants in a statement issued in Port Harcourt titled “Final List of Aspirants for the House of Representatives Primary Election for Saturday, 16th May, 2026.”
Ikenga noted that the list was sent down by the national leadership of the party.
The statement partly reads:“You are by this notice informed of the release of the final list of aspirants for the House of Representatives primary election of our great party-the APC scheduled for 16th May, 2026 as released by the National Leadership of the Party.”
The party further cautioned aspirants to stay informed, adding:“Aspirants are kindly, advised note and comply accordingly. This information must be taken seriously in view of the election as scheduled. Please, find attached, the list aspirants who are cleared and, or not cleared.”
