Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has been granted bail in the sum of ₦100 million with one surety in the same amount by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
In the ruling, Justice Abdulmalik set out several strict conditions that the defendant has to satisfy to perfect the bail.
The court ruled that the chosen surety must live within either the Asokoro or Maitama districts of Abuja and is required to deposit the original Certificate of Occupancy of a landed property with the court registry.
Additionally, the surety must be a federal civil servant of at least Grade Level 17, who must present three months of salary payment evidence verified via a letter from a bank manager within the court’s jurisdiction.

The court also mandated the surety to swear to an affidavit of means, sign a bail bond, and provide a recent passport photo to the court registry.
El-Rufai is required to hand over all valid international passports to the court registry as part of the bail terms.
Furthermore, the court ordered the submission of a verification letter from the surety’s direct department, along with a tax clearance certificate spanning the previous six months.
Justice Abdulmalik directed the defendant to visit the Department of State Services headquarters at 10 a.m. on the final Friday of every month to sign an attendance log until the case is concluded.
The judge cautioned that any failure to meet these terms would result in the automatic revocation of the bail.
The court also instructed the defendant to present a letter of attestation signed by the Chairman of the Kaduna Traditional Council.
