Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who previously served as the Deputy President of the Senate, has officially ended his membership with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The disclosure was made public through a statement by Sunday Areh, his Media Adviser.
According to the release, the prominent politician reached the decision following rigorous consultations with key political loyalists and allies, alongside a critical assessment of unfolding occurrences within the Delta State chapter of the APC.
Omo-Agege maintained that the advancement of his political career and the growth of the Delta Central district could no longer be realized under the umbrella of the APC, emphasizing that continuing with a political platform that limits his ability to champion the needs of his people was no longer viable.

Expressing his appreciation, the former lawmaker thanked the ruling party for giving him the platform to serve as the nation’s Deputy Senate President during the 9th National Assembly.
He extended his best wishes to the party while reiterating his personal determination to promote progress across Delta Central, Delta State, and the federation.
The official notification, dated May 22, 2026, explicitly stated that his departure from the party takes immediate effect.
The media statement further indicated that the former principal officer of the National Assembly formally submitted his exit notice via a letter transmitted to the Ward Chairman of Orogun Ward 2, located within the Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
“After reviewing recent developments within the APC in Delta State and consulting with my associates and supporters, it is clear that my political objectives and those of my constituents are better served outside the party,” he stated.
“I will not remain a sitting duck in a party where I cannot advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta State and Nigeria,” he added.

Additionally, Omo-Agege revealed that he has formally requested the deletion of his details from all party rosters, databases, and internal messaging networks.
The ex-senator affirmed that his overarching priority is still anchored on providing quality development and solid representation to the people of Delta Central, Delta State, and Nigeria, pledging to continuously drive those objectives outside the fold of the APC.
