Alabo Dumo Lulu-Briggs has been declared the winner of the newly concluded National Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship primary election in Rivers State.

The former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial aspirant clinched the ticket unopposed during the primary exercise conducted on Tuesday.

Reports indicate that no other contender stepped forward to challenge him during the voting process, which took place across all the local government areas of the state.

Reacting after the exercise, the newly minted NDC candidate expressed his gratitude to the party members for the massive vote of confidence placed in him, noting that the entire process was calm and peaceful.

With this development, Dumo Lulu-Briggs is now slated to square off in the main governorship election against the newly elected All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Kingsley Chinda.

Chinda, a staunch ally of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, secured the APC ticket following the sudden withdrawal of the incumbent governor, Siminalayi Fubara, from the race.
