According to eyewitness accounts, the student was allegedly assaulted by the Associate Dean, the hostel sister, and several female security officers.

Conversely, reports indicate that the student retaliated by slapping the hostel sister and a cleaner during the heat of the encounter.

In the aftermath of the clash, school authorities conducted a search of the student’s room, ostensibly looking for hard drugs; however, witnesses claim no illicit substances were discovered.

Tensions flared once more when the student requested privacy to change her clothes before being escorted by officials.

That request was reportedly denied, triggering a further confrontation.

The incident, which initially circulated as viral social media footage, has now escalated into a matter of national concern, drawing the attention of civil society organizations and rights groups like the Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC).

These groups have publicly demanded an independent investigation into the alleged brutalization of the student and have criticized the university’s initial disciplinary measures.

Following the mounting public and regulatory pressure, the university management issued a formal press statement on June 18, 2026.

The university stated that the publications regarding the incident were false, misleading, malicious and unverified, claiming they portrayed the events surrounding the June 10, 2026 incident in a distorted and misleading manner.

Furthermore, the university asserted that prior to the media reports, they had already taken decisive preliminary actions, including the suspension of all staff and students directly involved and the constitution of a Review Committee to thoroughly examine the matter and make appropriate recommendations to Management.

The institution also clarified that the student involved in the incident is a beneficiary of the university’s scholarship programme.
