Dangote Petroleum Refinery has transitioned to dollar-denominated transactions, fixing the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) at $0.779 per litre.
The newly unveiled pricing template also raises the benchmark costs for diesel and aviation fuel, bringing an end to the naira payments previously used under the Federal Government’s naira-for-crude initiative that began on October 1, 2024.
This shift represents a major change in commercial operations for the refinery, which has become Nigeria’s primary supplier of refined petroleum products, and is expected to influence pricing structures across the nation’s deregulated downstream sector.
The updated rates took effect on Monday, July 13, 2026. In a notice sent to petroleum marketers and customers, the refinery announced that all previously issued naira-denominated Proforma Invoices (PFIs) and Deal Recaps for both gantry and coastal transactions are now invalid.
The statement, signed by the refinery’s Group Commercial Operations, read, “Following our email of July 9, 2026, regarding the transition from naira to United States dollars (USD), please note that all issued naira coastal and gantry PFIs/Deal Recaps are now invalid, and no payments should be made against them. The applicable USD prices for each product, effective today, July 13, 2026, are provided below.”
Under the newly released schedule, the prices are structured as follows:

Petrol (Gantry): $0.779 per litre

Diesel (Gantry): $1.087 per litre

Aviation Fuel (Gantry): $0.942 per litre

Petrol (Coastal deliveries): $1,044.62 per metric tonne
The refinery clarified that this new payment arrangement does not extend to all of its products. “Also note that this transition to USD does not apply to LPG transactions,” the statement added, confirming that Liquefied Petroleum Gas transactions will remain unaffected by the policy change.
