Senator Sharafadeen Alli, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, has donated a brand-new Toyota Camry to Mrs. Rachael Folake Alamu, the principal of Community High School, Esiele, in Oriire Local Government Area.

The gesture serves as a recognition of her resilience and bravery following her survival of a 56-day kidnapping ordeal.

Mrs. Alamu was abducted in May alongside several pupils and teachers during a coordinated attack on Community High School, Esiele, and Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School.

Throughout their captivity, Mrs. Alamu was reportedly forced to appear in various video recordings used by the kidnappers to communicate their demands to the public and the government.

Presenting the vehicle, Senator Alli commended Mrs. Alamu for her “exceptional bravery, composure and unwavering commitment to the safety and welfare of the abducted pupils throughout the traumatic experience.”

He described the donation as a “modest token of appreciation for her courage and an expression of solidarity with victims of insecurity.”

Senator Alli emphasized that teachers who continue to perform their duties in hazardous conditions deserve the full support and appreciation of society, adding that he hopes the vehicle will assist in her recovery and ease her transition back to professional life.

The rescue of the teachers and pupils after 56 days in captivity brought an end to weeks of anxiety for the Oriire community, the victims’ families, and the wider state.

Residents and local stakeholders have praised Senator Alli’s intervention, describing it as a “compassionate gesture and a fitting recognition of the sacrifices made by teachers serving in vulnerable rural communities.”
