FIFA has appointed Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić to officiate the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina.
The world football governing body announced the match officials on its official X handle on Friday. The high-stakes final battle is scheduled to take place this Sunday.
Vinčić will be supported by a team of Slovenian assistants, with Tomaž Klančnik serving as the first assistant referee and Andraž Kovačič as the second.
The role of fourth official has been assigned to Jordan’s Adham Makhadmeh, while Mohammad Alkalaf will serve as the reserve assistant referee.
The final will be hosted at the 80,663-capacity New York New Jersey Stadium in the USA, with kick-off set for 3:00 p.m. local time (EDT). Spain secured their spot in the final following a semi-final victory over France.
Meanwhile, defending world champions Argentina, captained by Lionel Messi, reached the title decider after a series of knockout wins against Egypt, Switzerland, and England.
This match marks the 104th and final fixture of the expanded 48-team tournament. Argentina is aiming to retain the title they won in Qatar in 2022, while Spain hopes to add another trophy to their 2010 World Cup triumph.
