Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has announced his backing for the Rainbow Coalition, a multi-party political movement spearheaded by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Governor Fubara made this declaration while speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the rebuilding and outfitting of the Riven Medical Facility, a public-private partnership pharmaceutical plant located in the state.
He endorsed President Bola Tinubu as his preferred choice for the presidency and Kingsley China for the governorship, encouraging his followers to throw their support behind every candidate running under the coalition banner in the upcoming 2027 elections.
Emphasizing that the era of political friction in the state has drawn to a close, Governor Fubara noted that tranquility and solidarity are now vital for regional progress.
“I am supporting our Rainbow Coalition. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is our President, and he is the one we are supporting. The governorship candidate is the candidate I am supporting, and anybody who believes in me will support every candidate under the Rainbow Coalition,” the governor declared.
Rejecting suggestions from certain political figures to postpone joining the movement, he maintained that his stance is already finalized.
“I am already in the family. I have returned to our family. Give your total support to the coalition. The time of war is over; it is now time for peace, and that peace will take us to another level,” he stated.
Furthermore, the governor cautioned against maneuvers that might spark internal fractures, asserting that he refuses to back any plot that undermines existing harmony.
“I am not party to anything that will bring any form of disunity in this state. We have done what we need to do, and now we are moving forward,” he added.
