Alhaji Lekan Alabi, a seasoned journalist and former media spokesman for multiple Oyo State administrations, has passed away.
The veteran public servant, who also held the esteemed traditional title of Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland, breathed his last on Saturday morning while in Lagos at seventy-six years old.
The news of his passing was made public via an official release authored by Adeola Oloko, the media assistant to the Olubadan of Ibadanland. Family insiders indicated that the departed media icon is scheduled for interment on Sunday following traditional Islamic customs.
Additionally, Tunji, one of the veteran’s offspring, verified the passing to The Guardian newspaper, stating: “Baba died this morning”.
Throughout his prominent professional journey, Alabi earned widespread esteem across media circles, public relations, and governance due to his tenure as press secretary for past state leaders in Oyo.
He remained a key player within cultural and customary administration, maintaining his significant palace office in the Olubadan hierarchy.
