Oyo State Governor and 2027 presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, recently held a closed-door meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

The high-profile gathering took place on Sunday at Obasanjo’s Penthouse residence located within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Makinde was accompanied by former governors Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State and Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun State.

Taking to social media to share details of the visit, Governor Makinde revealed that the deliberations centered on pressing national developments ahead of the upcoming polls.

In his Facebook post, he stated: “Earlier today (Sunday), we visited Baba, His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, in Abeokuta. Our discussions centred on important national issues in view of the upcoming general election. We appreciate Baba for his wise counsel at this crucial time in our nation’s history,”

The meeting brings together prominent figures from diverse political backgrounds. Seyi Makinde is positioning himself for the 2027 presidency under an alliance framework, while Olagunsoye Oyinlola is a key stakeholder associated with the Peoples Democratic Party, the platform under which Obasanjo completed two presidential terms.

Meanwhile, Kayode Fayemi, a senior chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, has increasingly voiced critical perspectives regarding President Bola Tinubu’s administration and party leadership.
