A woman was saved from drowning by local fishermen after she reportedly jumped into the Lagos lagoon from the Idumota-Carter Bridge.

The incident unfolded on Tuesday afternoon, as shown in a viral clip circulating across social media platforms.

In the video, the woman is seen seated inside a wooden canoe after being pulled out of the water, while a fisherman paddles the vessel safely away from the bridge structure.

Following the rescue, the woman appeared disoriented inside the canoe.

Meanwhile, a crowd of onlookers gathered on the bridge above, voicing their shock and debating what could have driven her to jump into the lagoon.

In the recorded footage, an onlooker speaking in Yoruba asked:“What were you thinking to that extent?”

Another bystander was heard saying:“I can never kill myself because of thinking”

To which another person cautioned:“Pray to never be in that position.”

The specific circumstances surrounding the incident and the current condition of the woman following her rescue have not been publicly disclosed as of the time of filing this report.
