In a significant move to enhance youth welfare, Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has sanctioned a monthly state stipend of ₦30,000 for every National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member posted to the state.
This announcement was made during the official swearing-in event for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II corps members held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp situated in Afikpo.
Representing the Governor, the Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Chidiebere Onyia, reassured incoming corps members of the government’s dedicated focus on their safety and overall welfare.
He characterized Ebonyi as a peaceful, welcoming, and opportunity-filled state, encouraging the youth to make the most of their service year for personal development, community building, and cross-cultural integration.

, while urging corps members to add value to their primary assignments across the state.
NYSC State Coordinator Mrs. Malgwi Maidariya praised the Ebonyi State Government for its consistent support of youth development, while also drawing attention to urgent infrastructure requirements at the orientation camp located at Old MacGregor College, Afikpo.
Maidariya requested state assistance for essential physical upgrades, such as modernizing the central camp kitchen and building a standard dining hall.
Other requested improvements include setting up a fully equipped Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) center, renovating the structural perimeter fence, and upgrading facilities inside the multi-purpose hall.
Speaking directly to the corps members, she stressed the importance of discipline, active involvement in camp activities, and upholding core values like patriotism, integrity, and selfless service.
She also expressed gratitude to camp staff, resource persons, and partner security agencies for maintaining order and smooth operations throughout the orientation period.
The swearing-in ceremony included several highlights, featuring the formal signing and oath of allegiance by the new corps members, tactical displays by the Man ‘O’ War unit alongside cultural performances, and an inspection tour of camp infrastructure projects.
