Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, speaking to the public, has clarified that bail procedures at police stations are entirely free of charge.
He pointed out that many people sign bail documentation without realizing the forms explicitly state that no money is required for the release of suspects.
Emphasizing the legal standpoint, the officer stated, “The law no allow any person to pay money for bail for any police station.”
He further cautioned citizens against extortion and urged anyone asked to pay for bail to report the incident or reach out using official designated contact lines provided during the briefing.
