The Ministry of Interior has clarified that reports suggesting the ongoing recruitment across paramilitary agencies under its supervision has been delayed until 2027 are completely false, emphasizing that the selection process remains active.
This clarification was released via a statement issued on Thursday by Dr Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry.
The Ministry pointed out that a viral press statement circulating across social media channels titled “CDCFIB Recruitment Update,” bearing the date August 11, 2026, and falsely credited to Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, is entirely fraudulent.
The fabricated announcement alleged that the ongoing Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) recruitment drive had been postponed past the 2027 general elections due to budgetary limitations.
The Ministry stressed that this document did not come from official channels, the Minister’s office, or the CDCFIB.
“The Ministry wishes to state unequivocally that this press release is fake, unauthorised, and fraudulent. The Minister did not sign or issue this statement,” the statement clarified.
The statement added, “No decision has been made to defer the recruitment exercise until after the 2027 general election. The exercise is ongoing.”
Citizens and applicants were strongly cautioned to dismiss the fake document completely and depend exclusively on official announcements communicated through the verified channels of the Ministry and the CDCFIB, specifically via their official portal at cdcfib.gov.ng.
