In the viral clip, the woman addressed the prominent business leader by saying, “Good morning, Tony.”

Although he initially responded with light humor by saying, “Toyin? Toyin?” he clarified his preference for formal titles once she repeated the greeting.

“Okay. No, you won’t call me Tony. You’ll call me Mr Elumelu or TOE. You won’t call me Tony, or Chairman. I don’t subscribe to that kind of… Oyinbo life, okay?” he stated.

The participant promptly adjusted her greeting to “Good morning, Mr Elumelu” before continuing with her inquiry.

The interaction quickly circulated across social media platforms, sparking diverse discussions among online observers.

The event coincided with the institution’s celebration of 374 young professionals who successfully finalized the GMAP initiative, positioning them as upcoming leaders across various African markets.

Elumelu previously highlighted the initiative’s milestone of training over 5,000 young professionals across the continent.

Representatives from the banking group stated that the newest cohort has acquired the necessary expertise to navigate emerging challenges and deliver meaningful outcomes in their respective operational regions.

Management congratulated the participants and encouraged them to pursue their professional journeys purposefully and courageously.
