The West African Examinations Council has announced that the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for School Candidates certificates are now officially available on its Digital Certificate Platform.
WAEC made this announcement via a post on its official X handle on Friday, strongly encouraging candidates to retrieve their credentials through the designated platform.
The examination body stated, “The 2026 WASSCE for School candidate Certificate is now available for access on the WAEC Digital Certificate Platform.”
Candidates can view, download, and share their certificates by navigating to the official [WAEC website](https://www.waec.org/) or by utilizing the WAEC Digital Certificate mobile application.
The digital platform features two primary access levels: Certificate Access, designed for individuals wishing to view, download, or share their personal certificates, and Certificate Confirmation, intended for academic institutions and organizations looking to verify candidate credentials.
How to access your WAEC certificate
To access the 2026 WASSCE certificate online, candidates should follow these steps:
1. Visit the official [WAEC website](https://www.waec.org/) and access the Digital Certificate Platform.
2. Select Certificate Access.
3. Provide the required examination details and identification information.
4. Complete the verification process, including any OTP authentication where required.
5. View and download the digital certificate.
6. Save the certificate securely or share it with institutions that require it.
WAEC further advised candidates to utilize its official digital certificate application, which is downloadable on the [Google Play Store](https://play.google.com/), to easily access their credentials on mobile devices.
The certificate platform remains entirely separate from the standard WAEC result-checking portal previously used by candidates to check their examination scores.
This rollout follows the recent release of results for the 2026 WASSCE for School Candidates.
WAEC reported that 1,950,726 candidates registered and sat for the examination, with 1,200,514 candidates—representing 61.54 per cent—successfully obtaining credits and above in a minimum of five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
Candidates were previously required to generate a PIN and serial number through the official [WAEC website](https://www.waec.org/) before checking their grades on the result portal.
The 2026 examination was conducted between April 21 and June 19, 2026, drawing participation from candidates across more than 24,200 secondary schools.
