Heavy rainfall on Tuesday caused severe flooding that completely took over parts of Lugbe in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, creating a chaotic scene as rushing brown waters surged across major thoroughfares.
Footage captured from a moving vehicle showed how the intense downpour heavily affected the area, with floodwaters swelling to dangerous levels and covering significant portions of the environment near transmission lines and infrastructure.
The overwhelming volume of water drastically impeded movement, creating severe gridlock and virtually blocking the bustling airport road as motorists struggled to navigate through the deep, fast-flowing floodwaters.
Several vehicles could be seen partially submerged or crawling cautiously through the deluge, highlighting the recurrent vulnerability of major commuter routes to sudden flooding during heavy downpours in the nation’s capital.
