A 43-year-old Nigerian-British businessman and social media influencer, Igho Ubiribo, has died after undergoing a penis enlargement procedure during a holiday in Thailand, with a UK coroner later ruling that the cosmetic treatment caused a fatal pulmonary embolism.
Popularly known by the nicknames “Tiny”, “Denisi” and “Ego”, Ubiribo was visiting Bangkok on a luxury trip alongside his wife, Danielle Simba Allen, when 40 millilitres of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine were injected into his penis at an unnamed local clinic back in March.
Following the procedure, the couple headed for a massage at their Marriott hotel where Ubiribo began complaining of chest pain and abruptly passed out twice, prompting an emergency ambulance dash to Sukhumvit Hospital where he initially remained responsive to medical questions.
Evidence brought before the Inner West London Coroners’ Court revealed that Allen informed attending doctors about her husband’s recent penis filler injections, leading physicians to suspect a pulmonary embolism and urge a CT scan, though he tragically lost consciousness before the procedure could take place.
Transferred swiftly to the intensive care unit, medical professionals fought to save him by performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation for over 100 minutes before he was pronounced dead in the early hours of March 6.
A subsequent UK postmortem examination identified cellular material inside Ubiribo’s lungs that matched the exact hyaluronic acid substance utilized during the cosmetic enhancement, corroborating the findings of a Thai autopsy and leading coroner Jean Harkin to officially determine that the procedure directly triggered the fatal pulmonary embolism.
While primary care records from London noted that Ubiribo had previous joint surgery, suffered from gout, and was considered pre-diabetic, his doctor confirmed he had no other major medical issues before his life was cut short.
Widely recognized for showcasing his affluent lifestyle online to roughly 185,000 Instagram followers, Ubiribo owned properties including a $1.1m Los Angeles home and a $600,000 London apartment, married his fashion designer wife in a lavish 2022 Zimbabwean ceremony, and was eventually laid to rest in London inside a gold coffin reportedly valued at over $600,000 during a funeral attended by Nigerian music star Davido.
