A former lawmaker who represented Katsina South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Bello Mandiya, has passed away at the age of 62.
Mandiya’s passing occurred on Monday, September 7, 2026, according to an official press statement released by the Katsina State Government.
Reacting to the news, Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda expressed deep shock and sorrow, describing the former lawmaker’s departure as a significant loss to both the state and the nation.
Prior to his election to the National Assembly, Mandiya served as the Chief of Staff to former Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari before representing Katsina South in the Senate under the All Progressives Congress from 2019 to 2023.
Governor Radda lauded the late lawmaker as a dedicated public administrator whose legacy and contributions toward regional and national development would endure.
The governor extended heartfelt condolences to Mandiya’s immediate family, former Governor Masari, political associates, the constituents of Katsina South, and his colleagues from the 9th Senate.
He prayed that Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
