A major political realignment has swept through Kaduna State as prominent associates and key allies of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai officially returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring their unreserved support for incumbent Governor Senator Uba Sani ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Among the high-profile figures aligning with the Uba Sani-led political structure is Bashir Saidu, who previously served as Chief of Staff to El-Rufai, alongside Abdu Kwari, a former commissioner in the state and ex-senator who represented Kaduna North Senatorial District.
The defection and realignment wave also includes Nasir Abdullahi Maikano, a former chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kaduna State and a three-term member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly representing Ungwan Sanusi Constituency.
Also declaring allegiance to the governor’s camp is Moukhtar Isa Hazo, a former Deputy Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, accompanied by several influential grassroots party organizers across the state’s 23 local government areas.
The collective movement is seen as a major boost to Governor Uba Sani’s political footing within the ruling party as factions begin positioning for control ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.
Confirming the political shift, former Kaduna State Commissioner Jafaru Ibrahim Sani stated that the group reached a consensus to move together into the governor’s fold.
“It’s true, we are going together with them,” he confirmed.
The political reunion signals a decisive shift in the balance of influence among competing political structures in Kaduna State, consolidating Governor Sani’s grip on the APC state machinery while altering dynamics among opposition blocks leading into 2027.
