Desmond Elliot, a member representing Surulere Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, has tendered an apology to Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, over political friction stemming from the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in Lagos State.
In a video circulating across social media platforms, the actor-turned-politician is seen on his knees directly pleading with Gbajabiamila for forgiveness and seeking reintegration into the party’s core leadership structure in the state.
“I’m sorry, I have no excuse, I have nothing other than to say I’m deeply sorry and I am hoping to be cultured in the future,” Elliot stated in the viral recording.
The public apology follows internal rift within the ruling party during the APC primary exercise conducted in May for the Surulere Constituency I seat.
During the exercise, Elliot staged a walkout and announced his withdrawal from the race, citing alleged intimidation, political pressure, and the deliberate exclusion of his loyalists at voting venues.
He subsequently rejected the nomination results and indicated plans to seek redress through the internal appeal machinery of the ruling party.
The primary election was ultimately won by Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, who secured 11,385 votes to defeat Elliot, who recorded 270 votes in the final tally.
